Pergo hardwood must be installed above grade. You ll need to know how to level a floor. Pergo floors can be walked on as soon as they re installed. Thoroughly vacuum the existing floor and use a long floor leveler and tape measure to ensure the subfloor is level within 3 16 inch for every 10 feet.

Although no home has perfectly level floors pergo requires that the subfloor not slope more than 1 inch every 6 feet. No previous installation experience needed. Only a few diy tools are needed to install pergo. When you come to the end of the first row cut the length of plank needed to complete the row.

To install pergo flooring start by covering the floor with with vapor barrier sheets all the way to the walls and taping any seams. Essentially underlayment acts as a cushion between subfloor and floor. Underlayment is a thin foam layer that goes between your subfloor and your new floor. Just sand any high spots and fill the low spots with leveling compound.
