Then our last job is to drop the work into the frame and attach a back board to keep everything neat and tidy and enclosed.

Solid backing some frames may have only bend able metal clips others have a solid backing layer.
If you are using glass in your frame make sure it is clean and smear free before framing cross stitch pictures.
Here is a nice easy way to frame your own cross stitch piece using a standard store bought photo frame.
How much unstitched fabric will be visible around the edges of the design and whether you will use a mat.

A sheet of acid free paper mat or foam core board protecting the back of the fabric.
Once your cross stitch is all sewn around the backing card and ready for mounting you can tape the sewn card to the reverse side of the mat board.
